With the Metaroom Scan App, you can easily capture the staircase in your space. To enhance the accuracy of your scan and make the staircase as realistic as possible, you may need to add additional landings using the AI-assisted tool for 3D object creation in the Metaroom platform.
Step-by-Step Guide to Scanning a Staircase
Follow these steps to capture your staircase in 3D:
- Start a new scan section at the bottom of the stairs.
- Scan the nearby walls first to get the context of the area.
- Slowly move up the stairs while keeping the device pointed forward to capture the staircase in the scan.
- At the top, scan the nearby walls to complete the first pass.
- Return slowly down the stairs, scanning in the opposite direction to capture the full staircase.
- Stop the scan section when you return to your starting point.
- Without starting a new scan section, slowly walk up the stairs until you reach the other end.
- Start a new scan section and continue scanning the rest of the space as usual.
Important Note: Stairs are initially captured with a default model that includes five steps and only basic dimensions. To add more details, such as intermediate landings or custom configurations, use the AI-assisted 3D Object Creation feature in the Metaroom Platform.
Pro Tips: If you plan to reconstruct the staircase later in Metaroom Platform, we recommend taking Snapshots of each staircase’s step as you scan. This will help you recreate the staircase in Metaroom Platform with high accuracy.
