Assigning IFC classification to 3D elements 

In the Metaroom Workspace, you can optionally assign IFC classifications to 3D elements. These classifications provide parameters and functions that other applications can use when the model is imported.

Please note: the IFC types available in the Metaroom Workspace are based on the IFC 2×3 standard established by the buildingSMART International Alliance for Interoperability.

How can I assign an IFC type when creating a 3D element?

You can assign an IFC type as part of the element creation workflow. After selecting the object in a Snapshot or Scan Frame and before clicking Save 3D element:

1. Scroll down in the Frame Interaction sidebar to the IFC Type field.
2. Type the IFC element name directly, or click the dropdown icon to browse the available IFC types.
3. Select the appropriate type.
4. Click Save 3D element.

How can I assign or change an IFC type on an existing 3D element?

You can add or update the IFC type on any existing 3D element at any time. Follow these steps:

1. Open your scanned space in the Metaroom Workspace.
2. In the Model Tree, locate the 3D element you want to update.
3. Click the three dots next to the element and select Edit.
4. In the editing window, type the IFC element name in the IFC Type field or click the dropdown to select from the available types.
5. Click Update to save your changes.

IFC luminaire annotation for Relux  

Relux Desktop users who assign a 3D element to either the Light Fixture or Lamp IFC class will see those elements appear as placeholder luminaires in Relux Desktop. These placeholders can be replaced with real luminaire products from the Relux catalog.
