What is Metaroom Scan App?

Metaroom Scan App is a part of the Metaroom by Amrax® 3D room model platform. It is a 3D room scanner app designed for professionals to digitize spaces in seconds and seamlessly create 3D models. Metaroom Scan App uses a LiDAR sensor to precisely scan spaces and deliver accurate, detailed 3D room models to professionals.   

Where can I download the Metaroom Scan App?

Metaroom Scan App is currently only available on the Apple App Store. Our 3D room scanner app is free and has no in-app purchases. You can enjoy digitizing spaces with your iPhone Pro or iPad Pro, anytime, anywhere.

Device requirements for Metaroom Scan App 

Metaroom Scan App’s scanning functionality is currently compatible with all LIDAR-enabled Apple Pro devices (starting from iPhone 12 Pro and iPad Pro 2020 generation devices).

How does the Metaroom Scan App work?

Metaroom Scan App is designed for professionals of all ages and across industries. Therefore, you don’t need advanced knowledge of scanning or measuring spaces to digitize rooms with the Metaroom Scan App.

Here is a step-by-step guide to start using the Metaroom Scan App: 

1. Download the app on your device: 
   • Click here to download the app from the Apple App Store; 
   • Or, go to the Apple App Store on your Apple Pro device, type ‘Metaroom’ in the search bar, and tap the “Get” button to download the app. 
2. Open the Metaroom Scan App on your Apple Pro device.  
   • If you are a new user, you will need to create a new account by tapping the “Register” button:
     • Fill out the registration form with your basic information and tap the “Sign up” button. 
     • You will receive a confirmation email to verify your email address. Click “Confirm your email” in the received email. 
   • For faster account creation, you can also sign up using Apple, Google, Facebook or Microsoft account. Click the relevant button on the registration page.
   • If you have already created an account, tap on the “Login” button: 
     • Type your email address and password, and tap “Sign in”. 
3. Once you log in to the app, on the welcome screen, you can see the following: 
   • Add scan – tap this button to initiate the scanning process. 
   • Projects – view all your scanned and shared spaces. 
   • Account – manage your account settings.
   • Help – find in-depth tutorials to help you master scanning with the app.
   • Settings – manage some of the app settings in this section.
4. Tap on the button that corresponds to your request. 

How do I scan with the Metaroom Scan App? 

To start your scanning experience with the Metaroom Scan App, follow these steps: 

1. Open the Metaroom Scan App on your iPhone Pro or iPad Pro. 
2. Tap on the “Add scan” button. 
3. Take a moment to watch the explanatory demo video, then tap the “Start Scanning” button.
4. Start scanning by pointing your device’s camera at the top edge of the wall. Recognition lines will appear on the screen, meaning the app identifies the wall high up. 
5. Keep scanning by walking around the room and pointing the device’s camera to the walls and objects.  
   • Pro tip: your movement while scanning should be the same as when recording a video of the room. Just slowly walk through the room and capture all the walls and objects with your device’s camera. 
6. Check the 3D room model at the bottom of the screen to ensure all necessary walls and objects are captured. 
7. Once you have captured a room, tap the “Finish section” button. 
8. You can once again review the created 3D room model on the screen that appears. If something is missing, tap the “Rescan” button and scan again. If you are satisfied with the 3D model of the room, tap “Finish Scan,” then “Finish Now”. 
9. Good job! Your part of the work is done, now it is our turn to upload a 3D room model to the cloud. It will take a couple of minutes, depending on the room size and the quality of your Internet connection.  
10. Once the 3D room model is uploaded, you can:
    • preview it from the Metaroom Scan App -> Projects section;
    • customize and export it from the Metaroom Workspace-> Projects tab.

How do I export scanned 3D room models from the Metaroom Scan App? 

The Metaroom Scan App supports direct export of your 3D room model from a mobile device.

Follow these steps to export your project:

1. Open the Metaroom Scan App on your mobile device.
2. Tap on the project you would like to export.
3. You will automatically be redirected to the Metaroom Workspace on your mobile device.
4. Tap the “Export” button.
5. Select the desired export format.
6. Tap “Export” to start the export process.
7. Once the export is ready, tap “Download”.
8. Choose whether you would like to:
   • Share the exported file via messaging apps with your colleagues.
   • Save the file to the Downloads folder on your device.
