At Metaroom, we understand that scanning environments can vary. Whether you’re in a remote location, an area with weak connectivity, or prefer working offline, the Metaroom Scan App is designed to adapt to your surroundings.
Completed scans are stored locally on your device and uploaded automatically to the Metaroom cloud as soon as an internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) becomes available.
Here’s how the Metaroom Scan App works without an internet connection:
- Offline scanning capability: The Metaroom Scan App is fully functional without an internet connection. You can initiate the scanning process, scan rooms, capture Snapshots, and add Notes while disconnected — making it convenient for scanning in areas with limited connectivity or during travel.
- Scanning in flight mode: The Metaroom Scan App can also scan rooms even when your device is in flight mode, so you can seamlessly capture 3D data without interruptions, regardless of your internet status.
- Uploads when connected: After scanning offline, your 3D room model is securely stored on your device. Once your device connects to the internet via Wi-Fi or mobile data, the app automatically uploads the model to the Metaroom cloud, where it can be accessed from your Metaroom Workspace account.
Offline limitations
There are a couple of things to keep in mind when scanning offline:
- You cannot share scans in real-time with colleagues while offline.
- You cannot open the 3D model inside the app until the scan has been uploaded and reconstructed in the cloud.
All scanning, section management, and snapshot capture work normally while offline. Once your device reconnects and the scan is uploaded, you’ll have full access to all features again.
