Notes in scanned spaces 

Both the Metaroom Scan App and Metaroom Workspace allow you to add Notes to space elements and Snapshots. This feature is particularly helpful for projects involving multiple team members or cross-team collaboration — it ensures that important details, which might not be visually evident in the 3D model, are well-documented.

How can I add Notes to Snapshots in the Metaroom Scan App?

After scanning a section, you can add Notes to your Snapshots to annotate important information about specific areas. Follow these steps:

1. Start scanning the room with the Metaroom Scan App.
2. Capture important areas by tapping the Snapshot button.
3. Tap Finish Section to complete the scan section.
4. In review mode, tap the Snapshot, then tap the expand icon to open it in editing mode.
5. Tap Edit Note.
6. Write your Note in the field provided, then tap ✓ to save.
7. Repeat for any other Snapshots that need Notes.
8. When done, return to the review screen by tapping the ← button. From here, you can tap Add Section to continue scanning another room, or Finish Scan to finalize.

Once the scan is finalized, you can access the 3D room model with Snapshots and Notes in the Metaroom Workspace, where you can add more Notes or export the model.

How can I add Notes to Snapshots in the Metaroom Workspace?

Follow these steps to annotate Snapshots with written Notes in the Metaroom Workspace:

1. Open your scanned space in the Metaroom Workspace.
2. Find the Snapshot you want to annotate:
   • In the Model Tree, filter by type: click the Type dropdown and select Snapshot, or
   • Click directly on the Snapshot icon in the 3D model view.
3. In the Model Tree, click the three dots next to the Snapshot and select Edit.
4. In the editing window, write your Note in the Notes field.
5. Click Update to save.

Your Note is now linked to the Snapshot and will also appear in your PDF Project Reports

How can I add Notes to room elements in the Metaroom Workspace?

Follow these steps to add Notes to room elements:

1. Open your scanned space in the Metaroom Workspace.
2. Find the room element you want to annotate:
   • In the Model Tree on the left sidebar, or
   • Click directly on the element in the 3D model view.
3. In the Model Tree, click the three dots next to the element and select Edit.
4. In the editing window, write your Note in the Notes field.
5. Click Update to save.

The Note is now linked to the room element and available for review.

Which export formats support Notes? 

Currently, Notes attached to Snapshots are included in the PDF Project Report export. Notes are not included in other export formats because most CAD software does not support text annotations. However, the 3D room model can always be shared with team members, allowing them to review Notes directly in the Metaroom Workspace.
