The Metaroom Scan App relies on LiDAR sensors and requires extremely high computational power for AI-based object recognition. Currently, our app is compatible only with LiDAR-enabled Apple Pro devices.
Which Apple devices have LiDAR sensors?
Apple implemented LiDAR sensors on iPhones and iPads, starting with the iPhone 12 Pro and the 2020 iPad Pro. In other words, all Apple Pro devices after the 12th generation have enabled LiDAR sensors. Therefore, owners of Apple Pro devices can use the Metaroom Scan App to 3D scan spaces.

Why is the Metaroom Scan App not available on Android devices?
While the Metaroom Scan App can, in theory, be used on Android devices with LiDAR sensors, only a limited number of devices on the Android market are currently equipped with LiDAR sensors.
We commit to collaborating with smartphone manufacturers that consistently equip their devices with LiDAR sensors and software APIs to ensure high-quality scanning results. We have also relied on SLAM technology in Apple products for several years. Therefore, the Metaroom Scan App currently operates exclusively on Apple devices.
Will low-end devices be supported in the future?
As mentioned above, the technology powering the Metaroom Scan App relies on LiDAR sensors and requires exceptionally high computing power, especially for AI-based object recognition. As a result, we expect that only current and future hardware will meet the high requirements.
