To start digitizing your space, follow these steps to scan a single room with the Metaroom Scan App:
- Open the Metaroom Scan App on your iPhone Pro or iPad Pro.
- Tap the Add Scan button.
- Follow the pre-scan recommendations:
- Clean your device lens.
- Close doors and windows in the room.
- Open curtains and blinds.
- Move objects apart to help the app detect them individually.
- Start scanning from a clear corner of the room, making sure to capture both the floor and ceiling.
- Follow the guidance as you scan:
- Keep your distance from walls and objects.
- Move at a moderate speed.
- Walk around the room while scanning.
- Keep an eye on the 3D model preview at the bottom of the screen to make sure all walls and objects are being captured.
- Once you’ve finished scanning the room, tap Finish Section.
- On the review screen, check that all key elements are visible. If anything is missing or you’d like to improve the scan, tap Rescan to start over. If you’re happy with the result, tap Finish Scan to complete the process.
- Great work! Now just keep the Metaroom Scan App open while the 3D model uploads to the Metaroom cloud. Depending on the room size and your internet connection, this usually takes a couple of minutes.
- Once uploaded, you can access your 3D model from the Metaroom Scan App → Projects, or from Metaroom Workspace → Projects.
Pro Tip: To get even better results, we recommend enabling Tracking Assistant in the Metaroom Scan App — it provides real-time guidance throughout the scanning process to help you achieve precise and accurate 3D models.

Essential scanning tips
- Move your device at a moderate speed, like when recording a video.
- Scan all walls, the floor, and the ceiling once — there’s no need to rescan areas that have already been detected.
- The ideal scan time is between 2 and 15 minutes, depending on the room size.
- Keep a minimum distance of 2 meters (5 ft) from walls and other objects. In larger rooms, you may need to walk around while keeping a distance of 2 to 5 meters (6.5–16.5 ft). The LiDAR sensor has a range of about 5 meters.
- Let the shape of the room guide your movement pattern.
