While scanning with the Metaroom Scan App, the integrated SLAM mapping technology tracks the device’s movement and orientation through the space. This scanning path, along with automatically captured Scan Frames, can be reviewed in the Metaroom Workspace — making it easy to spot any areas that may need additional attention.
How can I enable the Scan Path in the 3D room model?
Follow these steps to show or hide the Scan Path in the Metaroom Workspace:
- Open your scanned space in the Metaroom Workspace.
- Click the Scan Path icon in the top toolbar. The scanning path appears in the 3D model as a series of connected dots:
- The darkest pink dot marks the beginning of the scan.
- The lightest blue dots indicate the end.
- Hover over any dot to see an arrow showing the direction the device was facing when that Scan Frame was captured.
- Click on any dot to open the Frame Interaction sidebar. The first image shown corresponds to the Scan Frame linked to that dot; all other images are related Scan Frames captured nearby.
- Click the Scan Path icon again to hide the scanning path.
How can I review automatically captured Scan Frames?
Scan Frames can be reviewed in three ways in the Metaroom Workspace.
Via Scan Path
- Open your scanned space in the Metaroom Workspace.
- Click the Scan Path icon in the top toolbar to display the scanning path.
- Click on any dot along the path to open the Frame Interaction sidebar, which shows the automatically captured Scan Frames and related frames for that position.
- Click through the dots to browse Scan Frames from different positions in the scan.
Via Model Tree
- Open your scanned space in the Metaroom Workspace.
- In the Model Tree on the left sidebar, click on a room element. The Scan Frames related to that element are displayed in the Frame Interaction sidebar.
Via Selection Tool
- Open your scanned space in the Metaroom Workspace.
- Click the Selection Tool in the upper toolbar and choose a selection mode:
- Surface / Asset Mode: select a surface or asset by clicking on it.
- Wall / Asset Mode: select walls, assets, or openings directly.
- Room / Space Mode: select the room linked to the clicked object.
- Floor Mode: select the floor linked to the selected object.
- Click on a room element in the 3D model. The related Scan Frames are displayed in the Frame Interaction sidebar.
Please note: the Scan Frames displayed depend on the selection mode — Surface / Asset Mode shows frames related to the specific element, while Room and Floor modes show all frames related to the entire room or floor.
Pro Tip: you can extract 3D elements directly from automatically captured Scan Frames. See Adding 3D Elements to the 3D Model for instructions.
