Efficient room categorization is crucial for professionals in various industries, particularly in the lighting planning sector. With Metaroom Workspace, achieving this distinction in your multi-room 3D model is a straightforward process.
Here are two ways for categorizing rooms during multi-room scanning:
- You shouldn’t worry about manual room segmentation if you use the Metaroom Scan App version 3.0.0 or a later one. All rooms in the multi-room 3D model will be automatically detected, and you can see them in the Model Tree on the left sidebar. You can click on the room to rename it, select the utilization type, or add a note. You can choose a room from the Model Tree for quick export to the Relux format.
- If you need to categorize or segment rooms in a multi-room 3D model that was scanned with a previous version of the Metaroom Scan App (before version 3.0.0), you can do so manually in the Metaroom Workspace.
Follow these simple steps to create room categorization for RELUX export:
- Navigate to the Metaroom Workspace.
- Open the 3D model of scanned space from the Project list in the Metaroom Workspace.
- Click on the “Export” button, select “RELUX Desktop” from the list of export formats, and click on the “Export” button.
- The Relux Export Mode will be activated.
- To select walls and furniture items that you want to group into specific categories, follow the next steps:
- Click on room elements to select them. Selected objects will be displayed in blue. The list of chosen walls and objects will appear on the right sidebar.
- You can also select room objects by holding SHIFT on the keyboard + the left button on your mouse and hovering over them. Selected objects will be displayed in blue. The list of selected walls and objects will appear on the right sidebar.
- Once you have selected all the room elements, you can name your room (e.g., “bathroom”) in the “Group Name” field and click the “Create New Group” button.
- Once you’ve marked different room categories, you can see them in the left sidebar under Model Tree.
- To export the room with all the added information, click on the check box next to the room name in Model Tree. Then, navigate to the right sidebar to click the “Relux Export” button.
- Your selected room will be ready for downloading from the main menu “Export” tab.
