The Metaroom Scan App relies on LiDAR sensors and requires extremely high computing power for AI-based object recognition methods. Currently, our app is compatible only with LiDAR-enabled Apple Pro devices.
Which Apple devices have LiDAR sensors?
Apple implemented LiDAR sensors on iPhones and iPads, starting with the iPhone 12 Pro and iPad Pro 2020 generation devices. In other words, all Apple Pro devices after the 12th generation have enabled LiDAR sensors. Therefore, owners of Pro Apple devices can use the Metaroom Scan App for 3D scanning of spaces.
Why is the Metaroom Scan App not available on Android devices?
While, in theory, the Metaroom Scan App can be used on Android devices with LiDAR sensors, it’s important to note that currently, only a limited number of devices in the Android market are equipped with LiDAR sensors.
We commit to collaborating with smartphone manufacturers dedicated to consistently equipping their devices with LiDAR sensors and software APIs to guarantee high-quality scanning results. We have also relied on SLAM technology in Apple products for several years. Therefore, the Metaroom Scan App currently operates exclusively on Apple devices.
Will low-end devices be supported in the future?
As mentioned above, the technology powering the Metaroom Scan App depends on LiDAR sensors and demands exceptionally high computing power, especially for AI-based object recognition methods. As a result, we expect that only current and future hardware will meet the high requirements.
