On Metaroom platform, you can optionally assign IFC classifications to newly created 3D elements. These classifications provide parameters and functions that other applications can utilize.
Please note that the IFC types available in the Metaroom platform are based on the IFC 2×3 standard established by the RT International Alliance for Interoperability.
How to assign the IFC class to new 3D elements?
Assigning an IFC type to your newly created 3D element is optional in the Metaroom platform. If you choose to assign an IFC type to ensure the 3D element is correctly utilized in other CAD software, follow these steps:
- Select an object from the Scan Frame.
- Scroll down the right Frame Interaction sidebar to find the following fields:
- Element Name
- IFC Type
- Type the element name in the “Element Name” field.
- Either type the name of the IFC element in the “IFC Type” field or click the drop-down icon to open the list of available IFC types.
- Select the appropriate IFC type.
- Click “Save 3D element.”

IFC luminaire annotation for Relux
Relux Desktop users who created new 3D elements in Metaroom platform and assign them to either the Light Fixture or Lamp IFC class will see these elements appear as dummy/placeholder luminaires in Relux Desktop. These placeholders can be easily replaced with real luminaire products from the Relux catalog.
