At Metaroom, we strive to deliver high-accuracy scan results, typically within a few centimeters of reality. It’s important to note that accuracy deviation can be less than 1%, depending on factors such as:
- room characteristics,
- scan conditions,
- scanning device type.
Metaroom’s recognition capabilities extend to large, room-defining pieces of furniture, including sofas, tables, chairs, and kitchens. Recognition success depends on the size and type of furniture. If an object isn’t recognized during your initial scan, we recommend attempting a second scan of the not-recognized area. However, if recognition remains elusive, the app is not likely to support the object, and you can proceed with the rest of your scan.
The outcome of 3D models can be affected by scan conditions, too. So it’s crucial to ensure adequate lighting in the room and adhere to the fundamental scanning recommendations. Scanning areas multiple times is unnecessary. Continue scanning until the dollhouse model exhibits all walls, openings, and critical furniture elements defining the room. The suggested scan duration typically ranges from 2 to 15 minutes, varying according to the room’s size.
To ensure better scan results, the Tracking Assistant is enabled by default in the Metaroom Scan App. It provides real-time guidance throughout the scanning process, helping you achieve precise and accurate 3D models. Learn more about Tracking Assistant here.
Remember that the LiDAR sensor on Apple Pro devices plays a significant role in the accuracy of the scanned rooms. The newer the Apple Pro device, the higher the accuracy of the scan. For instance, the LiDAR sensors from iPhone 14 Pro to iPhone 16 Pro model offer an accuracy range of approximately 0.5-1%.
