To start transforming space into a 3D model, follow the next steps to scan a single room with the Metaroom Scan App:
- Open the Metaroom Scan App on your iPhone Pro or iPad Pro device.
- Click the “Add Scan” button.
- Follow the recommendations on how to scan:
- Clean your device lens;
- Close doors and windows in the room;
- Open curtains and blinds;
- Separate objects for better detection.
- Start scanning the room from a clear room corner, capturing both floors and ceilings.
- Follow the guidance through the scan:
- Keep the distance to walls and objects;
- Keep a moderate scan speed;
- Walk around while scanning.
- Check the 3D room model created at the bottom of the screen to ensure that all needed walls and objects are captured.
- Once you have captured a room, click the “Finish Section” button on the screen.
- You can review the captured 3D room model on the review screen that appears after scanning. If any details are missing or you’d like to improve the scan, simply click the “Rescan” button to start over. If you’re satisfied with the 3D model, click “Finish Scan” to complete the process.
- Good job! Your part of the work is done. Now, it is our turn to upload a 3D room model to the Metaroom’s cloud. Please keep the Metaroom Scan App open while the 3D model is uploaded. Depending on the room size and the quality of your Internet connection, it will take a couple of minutes.
- Once the 3D room model is uploaded, you can access it from the Metaroom Scan App -> Synced Scans; or from the Metaroom Workspace -> Projects.
To ensure better scan results, the Tracking Assistant is enabled by default in the Metaroom Scan App. It provides real-time guidance throughout the scanning process, helping you achieve precise and accurate 3D models.

Remember the essential scanning recommendations:
- Move your device at a moderate speed, like when recording a video.
- Scan all the walls, floor, and ceiling of the room once. There is no need to scan areas multiple times if they have already been detected.
- The ideal scan time is between 2 and 15 minutes, depending on the room size.
- Maintain a minimum distance of 2 meters (5ft) from walls and other objects. In larger rooms, you may need to walk around while keeping a distance of 2 to 5 meters (6.5-16.5ft) from walls and other objects. The range of the scan distance is about 5 meters.
- The shape of the room will determine your movement pattern.
