How do I scan multi-rooms with the Metaroom Scan App? 

If you need a 3D model of multiple rooms, an entire floor, or even a whole building, you can easily do it with Metaroom Scan App’s multi-room scanning functionality. Follow the same scanning guidelines used for a single room, but continue adding one room at a time before finalizing the scan.

Before we guide you through the multi-room scanning process, please keep in mind the following recommendations for perfect multi-room scanning: 

1. Keep the camera clear: Never cover the camera when moving between rooms. It constantly tracks your position, ensuring seamless room stitching. Covering the camera will result in losing crucial “world tracking data”. 
2. Hold the device upright: Always keep the device upright, even when not actively scanning, but moving to the next room. Continuous camera tracking allows the app to stitch rooms seamlessly. 
3. Close doors for optimal scan results: To ensure accuracy and completeness, close the room doors.

Follow these steps to scan multiple rooms with the Metaroom Scan App: 

1. Open the Metaroom Scan App on your iPhone Pro or iPad Pro device.  
2. Click the ‘Add Scan’ button.  
3. Follow the recommendations on how to scan:  
   • Clean your device lens;  
   • Close doors and windows in the room;  
   • Open curtains and blinds;  
   • Separate objects for better detection.  
4. Start scanning the room from a clear room corner, capturing both floors and ceilings.  
5. Follow the guidance through the scan:    
   • Keep the distance to walls and objects;    
   • Keep a moderate scan speed;   
   • Walk around while scanning.   
6. Check the 3D room model created at the bottom of the screen to ensure that all needed walls and objects are captured.  
7. Once you have captured the first room, click the “Finish Section” button on the screen.  
8. You can review the captured 3D room model on the review screen that appears after scanning. If any details are missing or you’d like to improve the scan, simply click the “Rescan” button to start over. If you are satisfied with the room’s 3D model and wish to continue scanning another room, click the “Add Section” button on the screen. 
9. Walk to the next room you want to scan, following the on-screen instructions. Once you’ve reached a suitable position, tap the “Start Section” button to continue your scan.
10. Continue scanning the room. Once the second room is fully captured, click the “Finish Section” button. The updated 3D model will appear in the review screen, with the newly added room highlighted in pink for easy identification.
11. To add another room, click “Add Section” and repeat the same scanning process (Steps 9 – 10).
12. Keep adding rooms until you’re finished, then click “Finish Scan” when you’ve covered all areas.
13. Good job! Your part of the work is done. Now, it is our turn to upload a 3D room model to the Metaroom’s cloud. Please keep the Metaroom Scan App open while the model is uploaded. Depending on the scan size and the quality of your Internet connection, it will take a couple of minutes.
14. Once the 3D model is uploaded, you can access it from the Metaroom Scan App -> Synced Scans; or from Metaroom Workspace -> Projects. 

Keep in mind: To scan a new room, first tap “Add Section”, then move to the desired location. Once there, tap “Start Section” to begin scanning. Following this order is important – it helps the app better understand your position, resulting in more accurate stitching of all rooms in the final 3D model.
